This rare Arias box is from 1940’s Mexico City. Box measures 3-5/8" deep by 2-1/2" tall and 6-1/4" wide. Lid is buckling and there is some wood loss to one corner and cracks at bottom. Pair of American made Mexicana Decor Sleeping Mexican Bookends. Most likely from the 40's, during the height of the "Mexicana" decor craze that dominated American homes in the Southwest and Southern California, there was numerous craft projects centered around the Siesta Mexican motif. 7" long, 6 1/2" tall and 2 3/4 deep. Along with Tarascan artisans , they created the most exquisite wood hand painted/lacquer finish furniture and art objects. I don’t believe the studio is in production anymore.
