Chiapas Jaguar Pot
This gorgeous contemporary piece is from the small Tzeltal village of Amatenango del Valle, in central Chiapas, renowned for its beautifully decorated pottery. It is not fired in an oven but an open fire outdoors. It is hand-painted without any finish or glazing, and there is a small smudge on one of the jaguar's nose. (See photos)
