Many Older Traditions continue to this day in Mexico. However, with the ever expanding and dominating United States, the 'American Culture War' seems to threaten many folk art families and communities. Generally speaking, Children no longer want to continue in the 'family tradition'. The downsizing of the tourist dollar due to the 'Drug War' in Mexico has had a more recent and damning effect. It's long-term damage is still unknown. Though many families are struggling to make their crafts and Artist communities are closing shops. The once thriving folk art market of Border towns is nearly non-existent. Finding present day Mexican Folk Art has shifted to the Internet and a few Festival Markets in the US. The 'Border town' of Mexico has moved further North, off highways of States bordering Mexico. Our hometown of Tucson is one of those communities and we strongly encourage you to pay our store and our lovely town a visit. The Old Pueblo awaits you and we look forward to meeting you.
