Olay Popote Masterpiece
Rare and Stunning example of Mosiaco de Popote (Straw Mosiac) done by G. Olay. I cannot verify the exact Olay family member who created this beautiful depiction of a Mask Maker painting his creations in front of a Straw Mat. Folk Art paying home to another Folk Art craft twice. It doesn't get any better then that?!!! Mosiac was painstakingly restored and reframed with the direct caution of straw that had fallen off wax backing. It's most likely 100 years old or older? Acid free glue was used in process. The piece is not fully restored, We only re glued pieces that had fallen off. De-acidfication was applied to both sides of original board. Framer used sandwich technique to keep in frame. Because of its fragility, postage is not included on this one! The long hot Summer (especially here in Tucson) is brutal on packages, we do not feel comfortable mailing this piece thru your standard carriers. Please contact shop and I'm sure we can assist in delivery Popote piece to Tucson/Phoenix shipper you directly hire. We stronglyrecommend one who has expertise in field of shipping fragile wares and Art. Local Delivery is Free!
